华纳3D立体奇幻动画《守卫者传奇》发布音乐片花以及4支电视宣传片，影片请来了流行乐队Owl City（猫头鹰之城）来为这部以猫头鹰们为主角的动画演唱主题曲《To the Sky》，配以导演扎克·施奈德（《300勇士》、《守望者》）营造的瑰丽画面，梦幻无比。
《守卫者传奇》由华纳兄弟公司与《快乐的大脚》AnimalLogic工作室联合制作，影片根据凯瑟琳·拉斯基情节宏大的系列小说《猫头鹰家族守卫者（Guardians of Ga'Hoole）》改编，电影的情节将主要集中在15本系列小说中的前3本，被誉为“猫头鹰”版的《指环王》。
《守卫者传奇》跟随着年轻猫头鹰索伦（Soren）展开旅程，他着迷于父亲告诉他的“猫头鹰守护神”史诗故事，那是一群传说中的猫头鹰战士，他们完成一场艰辛的胜战，解救所有猫头鹰族群不受邪恶的“纯种者（ThePure Ones）”迫害。虽然索伦梦想有一天会加入他心中英雄的行列，他哥哥库鲁德却讥笑他的想法，并渴望跟他弟弟争夺父亲的宠爱。然而，库鲁德的嫉妒心却导致悲惨后果，他为求竞争表现，造成两兄弟从他们的树屋掉下，正好落入纯种者的魔爪。此刻，在其他勇敢的年轻猫头鹰协助下，索伦必须决心冒险脱逃，他们一同翱翔在高空，渡过海域，通过迷雾，努力寻找那棵伟大神木，也就是猫头鹰守护神的家园。索伦的唯一希望就是打败纯种者，拯救猫头鹰王国。片中的猫头鹰角色将由海伦·米伦、山姆·尼尔等声演。
