Gotye原名Wouter "Wally" De Backer，出生于1980年5月21日，比利时裔澳大利亚人，是一名乐器家、唱作人。2001年，Gotye录制了第一个音轨，2003年他发行了略显稚嫩的第一张专辑《Boardface》。2006年，Gotye发行了他的第二张专辑《Like Drawing Blood》，经历成长的Gotye开始得到收获，专辑和单曲都取得了不错的成绩，为他的第三张专辑《Making Mirrors》的大获成功做好了铺垫。《Making Mirrors》发行于2011年，专辑中与Kimbra合作的单曲《Somebody That I Used to Know》在欧美各国取得优异的成绩，在多国的单曲榜登顶。在波兰，该单曲占领榜首长达18周，成为波兰单曲榜史上夺得榜首位置时间最长的单曲。
