这首歌原唱是Skeeter Davis（斯基特·戴维斯）,，1963年就有了，但我们比较熟悉的是Herman's Hermits、卡朋特兄妹乐队的版本，卡朋特唱了这首end of the world ,还唱了 top of the world,可谓天上地下系列。除了此电视剧，美国电影《美国情事》使用此歌曲作为主题曲，苏珊大妈也在舞台上表演过。
但我们最最熟悉的是中文版本，电影《后会无期》的同名主题曲是最流行、最后一个改编的版本，前面的版本有陈百强《冬恋》（粤），雷安娜《含羞草》（粤），黎明诗《极度难忘》（粤），薰妮《别后重逢》（粤），周慧敏《情迷》（粤），陈宝珠《长相思》（粤）。
