And I do not feel elevated above any of my fellow nominees, or anyone in this room, because we share the same love... the love of film, and this form of expression has given me the most extraordinary life. I don’t know what I’d be without it. But I think the greatest gift that it’s given me and many of us in this room is the opportunity to use our voice for the voiceless.

我不觉得自己高高在上胜过我的同僚或者在这座礼堂里的任何一个电影人。因为我们都热爱电影，正是这种热爱给了我无以伦比的生活体验。我甚至不知道如果没有它我还能是谁。但是我认为最伟大的礼物对于我和在这里的所有人来说还不光是爱而是能为那些无法发声的群体发声的机遇。

I’ve been thinking a lot about some of the distressing issues that we are facing collectively. And I think at times we feel or were made to feel, that we champion different causes. But for me, I see commonality. I think, whether we're talking about gender inequality, or racism, or queer rights, or indigenous rights, or animal rights, we're talking about the fight against injustice. We're talking about the fight against the belief that one nation, one people, one race, one gender, or one species has the right to dominate, control and use and exploit another with impunity.

我最近想了很多关于我们人类现在所面临的种种困境和心酸往事。我举得那些糟心事恰恰是命中注定发生然后让我们思考的。那就是我们自认为是世界的主宰。但是我却看到了一种共性。那就是不管我们是在谈论性别歧视，种族主义或是同性恋权利又或是土著权利或是动物权利，我们最终都是在谈论对抗不公。对抗一种观念那就是一个国家一个民族一个种族一个性别或是一个物种可以凌驾控制利用另一个国家民族种族性别或是物种而不受任何惩戒。

And I think we fear the idea of personal change, because we think that we have to sacrifice something to give something up. But human beings, at our best, are so inventive and creative and ingenious, and I think that when we... use love and compassion as our guiding principles, we can create, develop, and implement systems of change that are beneficial to all sentient beings and to the environment.

我还觉得我们惧怕个人改变这种想法，因为我们会认为自己不得不牺牲一些什么或是放弃些什么。但是人类本应该是那么善于发明创造和勤勉的，当我们用爱与包容作为指导思想的时候我们就能创造发展和完善一个新的体系这种体系对于世界万物和环境都是收益无穷的。

Now... I have been a scoundrel all my life. I've been selfish. I've been cruel at times, hard to work with, and ungrateful, but so many of you in this room have given me a second chance. And I think that's when we're at our best, when we support each other, not when we cancel each other out for past mistakes, but when we help each other to grow, when we educate each other, when we guide each other toward redemption. That is the best of humanity.

目前，我一直是个卑鄙的人。我一直很自私。我一直很冷酷辛苦的工作着而且还不感恩。但是你们所有人给了我第二次机会。我认为人们是可以变得更好的，那就是当我们彼此互帮互助的时候而不是因为彼此的过错而彼此否定拉黑的时候。而是当我们彼此帮助共同成长的时候。当我们互相启发，当我们彼此指引共同迈向救赎之路的时候。那才是人性的光辉时刻。

I think that we've become very disconnected from the natural world. And many of us, what we're guilty of is an egocentric world view, the belief that we're the center of the universe. We go into the natural world, and we plunder it for its resources. We feel entitled to artificially inseminate a cow, and when she gives birth, we steal her baby, even though her cries of anguish are unmistakable. And then we take her milk, that's intended for her calf, and we put it in our coffee and our cereal.

我觉得我们已经和大自然渐行渐远非常格格不入了。我们很多人的罪过就是自我中心主义世界观，这种思想就是我们是这个宇宙的核心。我们闯入自然界，我们因为想要自然界的资源而肆意榨取彼此争夺。我们认为自己有权力堂而皇之的人工授精一只奶牛，当她生产的时候，我们又偷走她的奶牛宝宝尽管她哭的声嘶力竭，我们却认为那是心安理得。我们还挤走她的牛奶并加在我们的咖啡和麦片粥里，那可是奶牛宝宝们的口粮啊。
