歌曲来源及背景:  

     "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" 是著名的英文摇篮曲（lullaby）。歌词由19世纪英国诗人Jane Taylor所作。 "The Star"这首诗采用的是对偶（couplet）格式，最早于1806年在《童谣集Rhymes for the Nursery》发表，集子收集了她和姊妹Ann的作品。歌曲旋律使用的是1761年印刷的法文 Ah! vous dirai-je, maman,，该曲后来许多作曲家都进行过改编，最有名的是莫扎特的《根据法文歌曲“啊,妈妈我要对你说”创作的12个变奏曲,作品第265号》 Twelve Variations on "Ah vous dirai-je, Maman".[1] 歌词分为5段（stanzas）, 不过仅有第一段为人们所熟知。曲式一般使用C大调。

     简.泰勒Jane Taylor ( 1783年9月23日 – 1824年4月13日) 是英国的诗人和小说家。她为《小星星》所填词家喻户晓，可作者自身几乎无人知晓。由于早期作品是同姐*姐的一同发表，故她二人许多作品无法区分开来。安.泰勒Ann Taylor的儿子乔塞亚.吉尔伯特 Josiah Gilbert在其母传记中写到, "可能其中两首诗被引用的最多，就是'My Mother'和'Twinkle, twinkle, little Star' ；第一首是Ann的生命之诗，第二首是jane的自然之诗，它展现了姐妹二人不同的之处。

      她出生在伦敦，不过她们全家住在拉文纳姆（Lavenham）西灵农庄（Shilling Grange ）的西灵街（Shilling Street）。

       1796–1810期间她生活在科尔切斯特Colchester。当地的许多历史学者认为Jane的诗歌在此时创作。不过爱克萨斯（Ongar, Essex）的ongar声称是在他们那里创作的。 泰勒姐妹只是这个文学家族的一部分， 他们的父亲艾萨克.泰勒Isaac Taylor of Ongar是名雕刻家后期是反对派大臣。母亲 Ann Taylor (née Martin) (1757–1830)写了7部道德著作和宗教谏言，其中两部改为小说。
