O Holy Night -- IL DIVO

"O Holy Night"的歌曲故事源起于1847年，当时，一名住在法国西南部Avignon市的酒商兼业余诗词作家Placide Cappeau应他所属的教区牧师之邀创作一篇关于圣诞节的诗作，就在同年的12月3号，Cappeau在前往巴黎的途中完成了名为「Minuit, Chretiens」的诗作，当他抵达巴黎的时候，他将诗作交给刚在1841年以芭蕾舞剧「Giselle」攀登创作生涯巅峰的作曲家好友Adolphe Adam[*生平创作80多出舞台剧]谱写音乐，Adam在几天之内就完成音乐，歌曲完成后于1847年的圣诞节前夕在法国公开播放。

1855年，歌曲在伦敦做发行并翻译成多国语言版本，其中，由美国麻萨诸塞州一位擅长编写音乐日志的编辑John Sullivan Dwight所翻译的英文版本歌曲"O Holy Night"就成了后来广为流传的圣诞颂。
