　　在第四十四届格莱美的最佳专辑评选上，有一张专辑的出现最出人意料，既不是什么大牌明星新作也不是什么高水平新人的表现，而是一张以往最多只在专署奖项上出现的电影原声CD。

　　2000 年到2001年有不少好的音乐电影的出现，比如冰岛歌后Bjork的Dancer in the Dark，讲述摇滚歌星里程的Almost Famous等，这些电影原声都获得了很高的商业成功，也赢得很多歌迷的喜欢，不过在今年获得大红大紫的是科恩兄弟导演的喜剧电影《O Brother, Where Art Thou?》（老兄，你在哪儿？）的电影原声。

　　上面所说到的各个电影，都在影片中穿插着大量美妙好听的歌曲，却不外乎现代流行音乐的各种类罢了，象《O Brother, Where Art Thou?》这样描写30年代老美国故事的电影，里面却使用到了足够怀旧也足够经典的老歌。为了制作出贴切电影年代（1932年）的密西西比之声，科恩兄弟找来了T-Bone Burnett，这位曾经给诸如Elvis Costello，Sam Phillips, Joseph Arthur,和Counting Crows这些民谣-摇滚艺人都做过监制的大师级的制作人，来追忆和重现那个时代的乡村音乐，根草，民谣，宗教圣歌和布鲁斯。科恩兄弟和Burnett将这个电影的配乐做成了那个时代的音乐历史大集汇。

　　尽管出现在影片中的歌曲全都不是为电影新制作的，而且这些艺人也不是能经常做那些早期的音乐，但他们的努力使得所有出现在影片中的歌曲都达到了给影片升华的作用。这些歌曲包括1955年由Alan Lomax所做的描写黑狱生活的"Po Lazarus"——对了，顺便提一下，所有这些歌曲都是由一些老乡村（如Fairfield Four, Ralph Stanley, the Whites）和新起来的很棒的歌手/组合（如Gillian Welch, Alison Krauss, Emmylou Harris）录制的，所有歌曲都没有用那些现代常用的数字录音，这样使歌曲达到了符合那个时代的，颇为真实的效果。

　　这些歌曲里有一首歌相信看过电影的人一定不会忘记，就是Dan Tyminksi的"I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow"，这个在电影中使那三个倒霉蛋偶然间一唱成名，最后救了自己的歌曲，是一首欢快自然，白听不厌的老根草/乡村作品。还有三个愚蠢可爱的倒霉蛋在河边妄图洗掉自己的罪恶时那首"Didn't Leave Nobody But the Baby"，以及出现在影片高潮部分表现3K党聚会场面的"O Death"，所有的一切都在制作人Burnett手下完美的表现了出来，尽管这都是老早前的作品，但是今天听起来仍然不会有丝毫的厌恶，反而由于那种没有商业动机，纯粹表现音乐的气质，让人过耳不忘，甚至这些歌曲差点反客为主抢了电影的风头。
