2004年新年前夕，Eric Clapton被英国女王伊丽莎白二世授予了大英帝国最高勋位爵士称号(Commander of the Order of the British Empire)。

曾经Eric Clapton在西洋乐坛素有"吉他之神"的美誉,Eric Clapton漫长的音乐历程与居高不坠的名声有一半来自现场精湛的吉他表演.1991年3月老来得子的Eric Clapton痛失骨肉,年仅4岁的Conor从窗户失足坠楼,这个打击几乎让他再度一蹶不振,不过将近50岁的Eric Clapton将他思念之苦寄情歌中,于是产生"Tears In Heaven"这首歌,它首先被收录于电影《迷途枷锁》(Rush)的原声带中,这也是Eric Clapton全程参与的配乐作品. 在1992年发行单曲后很快得到白金唱片并蝉联亚军,同年3月份他录制MTV音乐台相当受欢迎的不插电小型演唱会(Unplugged)时再度表演此曲.
