竖琴大概是所有西洋乐器中，最适合女性音乐家演奏，且最引人遐想、超凡脱俗的乐器。如能弹得一手好琴并拥有高雅的气质和清丽的嗓音，台上倚琴而唱的歌者便仿如天使在叮咛……一手包办创作、演唱兼演奏的美国丽人蒂·卡丝坦森(Dee Carstensen, 1956.2.18— )尝试将生活上的点点滴滴与心情记事化作歌词与音符。 
在学业与事业间挣扎的时期里，卡丝坦森曾赴欧洲旅游一阵子，接着又自我放逐了一段时间，最后才在纽约落脚，致力开发自己的创作潜能；而其伯乐则是后来成为其丈夫的电颤琴演奏家(vibraphonist) Mike Mainieri。《Time》这首歌曲，将她的歌声、琴艺与词曲创作完美地结合在一起，是奠定其事业基础的个人专辑《心灵之约》（Regarding the Soul, 1995）中的代表之作。 
歌曲唱的是年迈的母亲对着日渐长大、阔别家门已久的孩子的片片心声。在一天或者一生将要结束的时候，爱是唯一确实可靠的还魂丹。有爱的时候，其他的一切都无所谓，生活的困窘、岁月的动荡、身体欠佳或者缺乏机遇，都算不了什么。空巢之所以透露出淡淡的哀伤，时间之所以让人感到悲怆，全因爱迷失了方向。
